Silsoe or Maulden .................... Useful information about how we aim to get well balanced sections

Silsoe or Maulden ....................

This is a subject that comes up every now and again, so it might be useful to remind people of something that has been written in our Group Guide on this website for several years. We have two Beaver Colonies, Birch and Willow; two Cub Packs, Badgers and Moles, and we have one Scout troop called Hunter Troop. None of them have "Silsoe" or "Maulden" in their Pack or Troop names...............

All sections take boys and girls from anywhere in our surrounding area and there is no selection based on where they live or which school they go to.

The sole objective is to have balanced packs and troops in terms of ages, genders, and geographical distribution which makes for a successful pack or troop and enjoyment for everyone. It's always been a feature of Scouting and one which we try and encourage, that it enables Scouts to meet other Scouts who they would not normally have the chance to meet and make new friends, be they from the next village or 10,000 miles away, and this doesn't happen if everyone in a colony, pack, or troop is from the same village or school.

Contact Information

If you want to contact any of the above leaders, or if you have a general enquiry but you're not sure who you should direct it to, the best route is via email. This is forwarded automatically to the webmaster, downloaded at least daily, and then immediately passed on to the appropriate person for action. Membership enquiries should initially be made to the Group Secretary at memsec@badgerhillscouts.org.uk  who has the current position of all sections on numbers and waiting lists. Please put "waiting list" as the subject, and click here for a list of the details  which you will need to include in your email.

For security reasons, we don't put leader's addresses and home phone numbers on the web so if you, or your son or daughter is thinking about joining please email us in the first instance and we'll get back to you to arrange a suitable time to meet,  Whilst we are always keen to see parents and leaders really do find it very valuable and useful to talk to you, dropping by the HQ on meeting night for a chat is not ideal for you or us when we are trying to organise around 30 Beavers, Cubs or Scouts at the same time!

Scout HQ Location
We have our own Headquarters building in Maulden. When your son or daughter joins Badger Hill, you will receive a "welcome pack" which contains a lot of information including the location of the HQ, parking arrangements, etc.

Electronic mail
Webmaster@Badgerhillscouts.org.uk. This is the main email address for this site and emails are redirected automatically to the webmaster who checks the inbox at least daily and will forward them immediately to the best person to deal with them.
