| As
has been the case for the the last two years, this year we again joined in
the English Heritage St Georges Day Festival at Wrest Park |
| We're
present for both days of the Festival, partly as a showcase for Scouting
in general and Badger Hill in particular, and also to raise some funds via
a Grand Draw the proceeds of which are this year going towards a
replacement for our minibus that died last year. |
Cubs and Scouts both
had a variety of activities to have a go at........ |
and there was also
one of our recently acquired new tents on show for everyone to have a look
at (and for the leaders to work out how to erect before the Scouts
arrived!) |
At 3pm everyone
assembled for the short ceremony where we renew our promise, section by
section. |
Beavers to start
with............ |
Followed by Cubs,
Scouts and then Explorers and Leaders. |
Morag, our GSL
gave a reminder to everyone of what the promises actually
were and what they
meant, and a surprising number of Scouts actually remembered what they
were without prompting! |
The outside row
seated here are the Explorers taking a break from the service they do for
English Heritage over the weekend, keeping the litter bins in good order.
A load of rubbish, quite literally - three big skips full this year. |
And to end a good day
with a smile........ :-)) |
"Don't put it down
just yet mate; hang on there for a minute and I'll get a few Scouts to
give you a hand ................." |
